Wix or a professionally built website: which fits your SME?

Choose based on your time, content, editing needs and customer journey—not a blanket claim that one platform is better.

A tool and a service are different purchases

Wix is a website-building platform. A professional website service is someone’s work to plan, write, design and implement a site. These are not opposites: a professional can work on a builder, and a poorly planned custom site can still disappoint. The useful question is who will take responsibility for the work your business needs.

Start with your constraints. Do you want to edit a menu every week? Do you have time to choose layouts and prepare clear wording? Do you need a standard enquiry form or a specialised customer process? Your answers matter more than which platform appears in a sales pitch.

When doing it yourself can make sense

A DIY approach can suit an owner who enjoys editing, has a straightforward structure in mind and can keep the information current. Wix publishes its own plans and included features; check the current local price, renewal terms and any required business functions before paying. We do not reproduce a fixed Wix price here because the relevant plan and offer may change.

Allow time for content, not just page assembly. Visitors still need to understand your service area, prices or quotation process, genuine work examples and how to contact you. A visually finished template does not automatically answer those questions.

When guided preparation is worth considering

A service can help when your information is scattered, there are several audiences to guide, or nobody in the team has time to organise the content and build. Agree who supplies facts, who writes the pages and who signs them off. Ask for a mobile preview and a test of the actual enquiry route.

Aureviq’s S$399 option uses refined layouts; S$599 is for tailored design and deeper business content. Our role is to prepare the agreed website and its information with you. Extra integrations and ongoing services are separate scope. Choosing us does not promise better rankings than a well-made Wix site.

Check the future editing and exit plan

Ask how ordinary changes will work: replacing a photo, changing opening hours, updating a price and finding an enquiry. Then ask what a move would involve. Domain control, downloadable assets, portable source and ongoing platform subscriptions are separate issues. Get the relevant terms for your chosen provider rather than assuming all website ownership means the same thing.

If a non-technical employee needs frequent self-service editing, make that an explicit requirement. A source-code handover is not the same as a visual editor. Likewise, a static export is not enough if the business relies on forms, orders or member logins.

Neither choice is a shortcut into AI answers

Google says the normal foundations for search also apply to its AI features. A useful, accessible website with accurate information is the starting point; there is no special builder that guarantees an AI recommendation. Assess the finished pages and the customer journey, not only the software name.

Try a fair comparison: give each option the same content brief, required actions and maintenance expectations. Compare the first-year cost and the work you still have to do. The right fit is the one your business can operate confidently after launch.
